Gift Day for Freedom Centre

Gift Day

As we begin 2014 we are setting our targets for the completion of phase one of Freedom Centre. Most of the manual work is done, so now is the time to recruit those with the skills to get the interior built, decorated and ready for operation. We have decided to hold two gift days, one on the 26th of Jan and one on 27th April, to raise money for this next stage of phase one and towards the ongoing loan payments. Now is the time for us to push through on phase one!

Please pray and consider what God you might desire you to give towards the next two offerings and let’s be praying together that God will meet our needs in order to get phase one well and truly off the ground.

If you want to give online please go to our JustGiving page and remember that all gifts/donations over £50 by Jersey taxpayers will now qualify for tax reclaim.

Give online now via Association of Jersey Charities

Freedom Centre update

Freedom Centre Christmas

2013 leaves us with so much to be grateful for at Freedom Church. At the end of last year we had the privilege of opening up Freedom Centre to the public for the first time, albeit as a building site. That event gave us a great insight into the needs within the local community and also gave opportunity to collate ideas from everyone who visited. It was so good to see that many of the things suggested for the building are already being considered and developed.

On Christmas day we met for our first ever worship service at Freedom Centre, which was a fantastic time and the foyer was packed to the rafters. So much work has already been completed by an inspiring group of volunteers. The project is now moving into a new phase and we need to raise further funds in order to release the skilled labour needed for getting the interior done. Please see the post on the Gift Day for more information.

The leadership at Freedom Church would like to say a massive thank you to all who have given sacrificially and served wholeheartedly in order to progress our vision to reach our local community with the love of our awesome God.

2014 is going to be a great year!

Freedom Youth

Freedom Youth runs on Sunday mornings at Hautlieu School, from 10.30am, when our young people join with main church for a time of worship, before going out to their different groups.

On the first Sunday of each month (term time only) all our young people meet together for Youth Church at our town premises in Victoria Street, where we have a dedicated Youth facility. We start with breakfast at 10.00am, followed by crazy (and sometimes messy!) games, worship and a talk time – it’s a great opportunity to build friendships and connect with God and each other.

Our Youth also meet together mid-week on Thursday nights at our Youth facility in town, from 6.30 to 8.30pm, for more fun, games, activities and teaching.

As well as our regular meetings, we organise lots of social events, such as movie nights, bowling, night treks, beach parties, sleepovers, scavenger hunts and football in the park. New ideas are always welcome!

Evolve

Evolve is for those in school years 6 to 8. It’s a time of big change and we purposefully work to help our young people adapt and make sense of the sometimes seemingly crazy world around them, particularly as they move from primary to secondary school.

We want to support and journey along alongside our young people, as they grow and ‘evolve’ into all that God has purposed for them.

180 (one eighty)

In School Years 9 and above life continues to change and our young people are facing some huge decisions and choices! Our aim is to support our young people through these mega challenging years!

We also encourage our young people to discover the amazing and individual gifts that God has given them and we continue to encourage them to learn to know God for themselves and seek him in every area of their lives.

The Loft

‘The Loft’ is our weekly Youth drop-in, for those in School Years 9 up to age 18. Aimed at helping to meet the needs of young people in the town area, we run a youth club style event on Tuesday nights. We have all our usual activities (games zone, nail bar, pool tables, table tennis, tuck shop) and run regular activities, such as Pizza nights, FIFA matches, and ‘Open Mic’ sessions.

It’s an opportunity to build relationship with the young people in the community around us, demonstrating God’s love in a very practical way.

Freedom Street

Every Saturday night, our detached Youth work team, ‘Freedom Street’ meets with young people in and around the town area of St Helier.

We give out bottles of water and lollipops, administer First Aid, and generally do what we can to help to keep young people on the streets informed and safe.

Freedom Street is about serving our community, caring for and supporting the young people around us, and building relationships. It’s a privilege to know and serve these young people, and to be able to take God’s love out onto the streets.
